A native of Albany, Georgia, Baritone Evan J. Nelson recently appeared as a Studio Artist with the Aspen Music Festival and School where he sang the role of Simon Thibault in Jimmy Lopez’s Bel Canto. He also had the opportunity to sing an orchestrated Schubert Song with the Aspen Chamber Symphony under the direction of conductor Nicholas McGegan. Mr. Nelson’s operatic credits include Mr. Johannes “Pa” Zegner in Mazzoli’s Proving Up, Guglielmo in Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte, Mr. Gedge in Britten’s Albert Herring, and Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. He is a proud alumnus of young artist training programs such as Teatro Nuovo and Opera in the Ozarks. Recently, Mr. Nelson sang the title role in Gianni Schicchi with UMKC Opera. Mr. Nelson holds degrees from Florida State University and Binghamton University. He is currently pursuing a DMA in Voice Performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory.
