Kelly Morel

Originally from Los Angeles, California, dramatic soprano Kelly Morel has now made her home in Kansas City. Morel has appeared on international stages, including Varna International Opera Academy, the American Institute for Musical Studies, Opernfest Prague, the Aspen Music Festival, OperaNEO, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City. She has traveled throughout Europe and the United States to perform leading operatic and concert roles, including Bertarido in Rodelinda, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, and La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, Mrs. Jones in Street Scene, L’enfant in  L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, Desirée Armfeldt in A Little Night Music,  Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Rosmira in Partenope, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor, Mrs. Massey in Paul Moravec’s The Shining, Lenore in Fidelio, Minnie in Allison McIntosh’s The Murderess (world premiere), and as a soloist with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra in Respighi’s Il Tramonto with conductor Carolyn Watson. She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory, where she was awarded first prize in the 2017 Concerto and Aria Competition.
